Mrs. Elizabeth Ratcliff Ewbank, daughter of John & Mary Clark Ratcliff, was born in Parke County, Indiana Aug 1, 1836. Departed this life at home in Fountain County Jan 30, 1924 at the ripe age of 87 years 5 months and 29 days. On Nov 2, 1856 she was united in marriage to Jacob Ewbank with whom she lived until his death on March 7, 1902. To this union were born 8 children, 5 sons and 3 daughters, of whom 2 sons died when young; Thomas Ewbank died September 28, 1910 at the age of 48; William Ewbank died March 8, 1921 at age 56. The living children are: Mrs. Mary E. Bonebrake, Veedersburg; MF Ewbank of Danville, Indiana; Mrs. Clay Thompson of Marshall, IN and Mrs. Henry C. Paschal of Kingman, In. THere are 15 grandch. and 11 great grandch, who also will sadly miss the love and devotion of their precious grandmother. Mrs. Ewbank is the lst one of her father's family of six children to depart his earth life for the Heavenly Home. Many years ago she was converted and became a member, a charter member, of the New Light Christ. Church at Pleasant Grove Church near her home, where she continued her membership until death. For many years she was affiicted and not able to attend Church services, but was interested, hopeful and trustful throughout her long life. During the last weary years of her pilgrimage she was anxious for the fellowship and companionship of her loved ones and kindred long gone on before. She was a hard toiler in her lifetime, assisting her full share with her husband in clearing up the farm and establishing their home, knowing their toils and hardhsip of pioneer life. She was anxious to go to her departed loved ones and on Wednesday morning she fell asleep in the Arms of her Redeemer and Lord. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. MF Dawson of Veedersburg Indiana at the Freedom Christian church on Friday, Feb 1, 1924 at 11 o'clock a.m. with interment in Sackmire Cemetery, largely attended by relatives, neighbors and friends. == kbz
